The word ᒋᒧᐧᐃᓇᑯᐦᑉ chimuwinakuhp raincoat is made of a verb ᒋᒧᐧᐃᓐ chimuwin it is raining and a noun ᐊᑯᐦᑉ akuhp coat. Such a compound noun can be made by adding a noun to an intransitive verb. The gender of the compound noun will be the same as the gender of the noun added after the verb. ᒋᒧᐧᐃᓇᑯᐦᑉ chimuwinakuhp in the example above is an inanimate noun because ᐊᑯᐦᑉ akuhp is inanimate.
