In contrast, these sounds are not interchangeable in English; think of &#8216;chain&#8217; versus &#8216;Jane&#8217;, which have two different meanings.<\/p>\r\n<ul><li>Similarly, the <span class=\"ipa\">[ p ]<\/span> sound in <em>pit<\/em> and the <span class=\"ipa\">[ b ]<\/span> sound in <em>bit<\/em> are both acceptable ways of pronouncing the letter P in East Cree.
