The rules stated below have been used throughout this site to syllabify the words used to demonstrate the Sounds of East Cree.<\/p>\r\n<table><tbody><tr><td style=\"width: 20px;\">1.<\/td>\r\n<td colspan=\"3\">Consonant Clusters: Put a dash between consonants in a consonant  cluster, but only if you can hear separate consonants; (i.e., don\u2019t  separate C-H or S-H).<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td colspan=\"3\">Unless:<\/td>\r\n<td><\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 15px;\"><\/td>\r\n<td style=\"width: 15px;\">a.<\/td>\r\n<td>The consonant cluster is at the end of the word.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td><\/td>\r\n<td>b.<\/td>\r\n<td>The consonant cluster consists of: KW, TW, PW, MW.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td><\/td>\r\n<td>c.<\/td>\r\n<td>The consonant follows CHISH,\u00a0 CHIS, CHIH, or CHICH.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td><\/td>\r\n<td>d.<\/td>\r\n<td>The next vowel is inaudible in the spelling.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr class=\"bbottom\"><td><\/td>\r\n<td><\/td>\r\n<td>e.<\/td>\r\n<td>There is no audible vowel sound before the consonant cluster.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td>2.<\/td>\r\n<td colspan=\"3\">Silent Vowels: If the vowel in the spelling is inaudible, put a dash after it.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><tr><td><\/td>\r\n<td
