Prefixes and suffixes (called inflection) are added to the stem to create different meanings. <\/p>\r\n<ul><li><strong><a href=\"inflections-number\/\">Number<\/a><\/strong> inflection for singular and plural<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-gender\/\">Gender<\/a><\/strong> inflection for animate and inanimate categories<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-obviative\/\">Obviative<\/a><\/strong> inflection indicates information about third persons<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-locative\/\">Locative<\/a><\/strong> inflection indicates place<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-person\/\">Person<\/a><\/strong> inflection for something that is possessed<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-vocative\/\">Vocative<\/a><\/strong> inflection to speak to a person directly<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"inflections-diminutive\/\">Diminutive<\/a><\/strong> inflection indicates that something is considered small or cherished<\/li>\r\n<li><strong><a href=\"simulative\/\">Simulative<\/a><\/strong> inflection indicates likeness<\/li>\r\n<\/ul><p><a href=\"noun-paradigms\/\">Noun paradigm<\/a> tables show the basic inflections that various nouns can take.
